History of Toys in Poland
There are really no toys that are strictly Polish in origin because countries around the world draw various influences from one another. However, there are toys that are really distinctly popular among Polish children. Toys are necessary not only for recreation. They can stimulate the growing mind through critical thinking and imagination. These toys, while they may not have originated from Poland, are really popular toys in the country and its neighbors.
Babuszka Dolls
The babuszka doll is also known as the matriyoshka doll or babushka doll. These toys are very distinct because its pear shape. The babuszka doll has a painting of the face of a woman who seemingly has a shawl. As you open each doll from the midsection, a smaller version appears. It goes on and on this way until you reach the smallest possible doll. These toys look like one big family that comes with a mother plus her children.
The babuszka toys are popularly associated with Russia but history has it that these nesting dolls also have their origins in China and Japan. Other countries have their own shapes of these nesting dolls. The babuszka toys in Poland, for example, have a more complex shape than the Russian matriyoshka dolls. The babuszka dolls take on a more human shape than the matriyoshka dolls.
The babuszka dolls are childhood favorites of the Polish and the rest of the Eastern European population. Nowadays, they’re also given as souvenirs.
Wooden Horse
One of the popular toys in Poland is the wooden horse. Children from other countries also play with the wooden horse but Polish boys have a certain fondness for the wooden horse. These toys are a staple in the playground. They’re lovingly made by the finest woodcrafters in the country. These animal toys stimulate the imagination because Polish boys pretend that they’re riding a real horse. They conjure all sorts of stories with it, much to their parents’ delight.

The wii fit plus is also going to be big in poland this Christmas along with the new the walking dead comic figures. Xia Xia pets have just hit poland stores and they are already causing a big fuss. Xia Xia pets are from the makers of zhu zhu pets and are going to be big this Christmas along with the Lego Friends and comics.
The UK seems to be a very popular holiday destination this year with devon holidays seeming to be very popular amongst the polish middle classes.
